What is a balanced budget? While you might be surprised to learn is that your definition and that of Lisa Heddens is quite different. You probably (and properly so) believe that a balanced budget is when you spend as much as you take in. That is not Hedddens' definition. She would have you believe that the budget is balanced, but not how you would think it is. This is what they have done: They spent all the money they could up until the law allows, then they took out a credit card on our behalf and spent all that money also. They even got a terrible rate on the credit card. We have to pay $900 million in interest to borrow $800 million. They claim that 1700 jobs were created. Let's take them at their word. So $800 million to spend, $900 million in interest, and 1700 jobs. That is a cost of 1 Million per job. The liberal Democrat policies of she and Chet Culver have led to the state of Iowa having a $1 billion, that is $1000 million short next year. The State budget is about $6 billion so we are going to have a shortfall of 1/6 of the entire budget next year. I implore you to do your own research and see if you can trust her to lead us out of this financial crisis. I suggest that if we can't get a straight answer about the simple question "Is the budget balanced?", it is time for some new leadership. I have signed the front of many paychecks. I know how to get this done as a small business owner. Let's get the state on the road to recovery and stop the false claims that we are in "pretty good shape". |
